Seven steps to achieving “ALL” your goals this year.

How can I make the most of 2017? As we enter the new year, this question is on several people’s minds. The New Year can either bring with it a hangover from the night before J or it can bring you the promise of realizing your true potential. That difference is made by clarifying, setting, and achieving goals.

Here are seven proven steps that will dramatically increase your efficiency, productivity, and faith in your ability to crush all your goals in 2017.

1. Identify Goals

What exactly are you looking to accomplish in 2017? Goals come in all shapes and sizes. The easiest way to identify your goals is to ask yourself, what is my end game? Where would you like to see yourself five or ten years from now? Once you have identified that, narrow that down to what you feel you can fulfill this year.

2. Clarify your goal

In mathematics they call it “simplest form”? Breaking your goal down until you can practically reach out and touch it. For example: let’s say that your 2017 New Year’s resolution is to lose 30 pounds. Do you feel that you are more likely to achieve this goal if you simply state that you would like to do it or if you find out what gym you are going to join, what diet will work best for you, find a personal trainer or good friend to work out with, and set realistic and attainable goals that you consistently adhere to? You and I both know the answer. The clearer your goals are to you, the greater your faith will be in your ability to achieve them.

3. Know your WHY

Why do you “HAVE” to achieve your goal? Not why do you want to but why do you “HAVE” to achieve it. In order for you to bring forth your best effort you must change your way of thinking and see the accomplishment of your goals as a serious priority. Your WHY could be your family, financial independence, your health, finding love, anything. You should be able to feel your why all throughout your mind, body, and spirit.

4. Create an Action Plan

An action plan is a process which will help you to focus your ideas and to decide what steps you need to take to achieve particular goals that you may have. You can do this by asking yourself a few questions:

  • Who do you need to help you complete this goal?

  • What resources do you need in order to complete this goal?

  • When do you need or want this goal completed by?

  • Why do you feel you need to accomplish this goal?

  • How are you going to complete it?

These questions will help you further clarify your goals.

5. Vision Board & other Affirmations

Vision boards serve as a great reminder of all of the things you are working for. You can use either a dry erase board, peg board, or any board for that matter. You want to either write out things you wish to accomplish and/or receive or you can place photos or other visual references that better help you to envision those things coming into your life. Other great affirmation tools include motivation posters, affirmation apps, and books. Anything that helps to support, encourage, and assist you in conceiving and achieving your goals.

6. Create Yearly/monthly/weekly/daily checklist

Similar to step two (clarifying your goals), breaking your goals down into checklist will assist you with building both your faith and enthusiasm as well as holding yourself accountable. It’s perfectly ok to update these checklist throughout the year but keep in mind that these updates need to encourage your growth. That means that sometimes you may need to lower your expectations in order to maintain your enthusiasm (and sanity). Other times you might be holding back too much and may have to set your goals higher. Trust your instincts when it comes to this one.

7. Remember to enjoy the journey

Every day of your journey is not going to go as planned. Some days you will find yourself living your purpose and finding great success and others might find yourself up against a wall and on the verge of giving up. It is during these critical times the ones destined for greatness persevere. Remember that it is okay to fail and find peace of mind in knowing that almost every single successful person you can think of has failed before. Learn to laugh and learn from your blunders and come back twice as strong. Having a more optimistic attitude will have an immediate effect on your success.

You possess everything you need to make 2017 your best year yet. Get out there, take action, crush goals, and live the incredible life that you deserve
